First time I have written two blogs in one day. But, they are both about important proposals for SXSW in 2025.

Here is the short video of what my daughter(Raya) and I hope to talk about in our session.

Here is the link to a more detailed description.

While I feel like traditional mathematics education has given up on students in terms of prioritizing rich mathematics — and the curiosity that is baked in — I would like to pursue this idea of that idea with a positive mental health marker with mathematics.

Everything is geared towards efficiency and proficiency. Students are just asked to be better at aping procedures than in the past. And, AI is only going to dehumanize mathematics even more.

Raya’s renewed relationship with mathematics is because of algebra — it’s content specific. She sees algebra as both a logical system of thinking and “poetry”.

We hope to expound more on all of this if our proposal gets picked for SXSWEDU 2025.

Thank you,

Sunil and Raya
